T-SHIRTS / Rock & Metal
Slipknot is an American metal band from Iowa formed in 1995. Slipknot's albums are released by Roadrunner Records, and the band has platinum sales in the USA.
In 2006, Slipknot won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance with the song "Before I Forget."
They are also known for their frequent appearances at the traveling metal/rock festival Ozzfest.
The band is known for its specific visual style. Slipknot members wear jumpsuits (in different colors from specific periods) and custom-made masks inspired by aspects of their personal character. In the past, their costumes featured barcodes stamped on their backs and sleeves. These barcodes are identical to the barcode on their first album, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. Their latest costumes have nine-pointed sergeant stars carved into them. With the release of each new album, the band's masks change. Usually, each member's mask is different for each album, but their costumes largely overlap in appearance.
Initially, the band wanted to keep their identities secret, refusing to be photographed without masks, even when giving interviews or posing for photos with fans (they would wear masks or otherwise cover their faces). Furthermore, instead of their real names, the band members prefer to be referred to by numbers from 0 to 8. During an interview in 2000, when #8 Corey Taylor was asked about the story behind the masks, he replied:
"Today, most of the band members have been photographed without masks, as a result of their work outside of Slipknot."
