Prodigy

The Prodigy is an English band formed in 1990 by Liam Howlett. Along with artists like The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, they are considered pioneers of the big beat genre, which reached its peak of commercial popularity in the late 1990s. The band includes Liam Howlett (composer and keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer and vocalist) (until his death in 2019), Leo Crabtree (drums) and Maxim (MC and vocalist). When the band was formed, it also included Leeroy Thornhill (dancer) and vocalist and dancer Sharky. They left in 2000 and early 1991, respectively.

In their almost 25-year history, The Prodigy have sold over 25 million copies of their music worldwide and have won numerous awards, including two Brit Awards and five MTV Awards. They have also been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Stylistically, the band combined rave, hardcore techno, industrial, and breakbeat in its early years, before moving on to big beat, rock, and punk elements in its later period. Although they originated from the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, the band achieved worldwide fame, recognition, and acclaim over the course of its existence.
